Tasmania Skilled Migration Update: 12 March 2026

Migration Tasmania has released the latest Tasmania skilled migration update on processing times, invitations issued, and nomination availability for the Tasmania State Nomination Program.

The figures were last updated on 12 March 2026 and provide useful insights for candidates applying for Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated Visa) and Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional Visa).

For skilled migrants planning to settle in Tasmania, these weekly updates help indicate the level of competition, the number of candidates currently waiting in the pool, and how many nomination places are still available for the program year.

Latest Invitation Round

The most recent invitation round took place on 11 March 2026.

In this round, 14 candidates received invitations for the Subclass 190 visa, while 19 candidates were invited under the Subclass 491 visa. These invitation numbers indicate that Tasmania continues to issue invitations gradually rather than conducting very large rounds.

This approach allows the state to carefully manage its nomination allocation throughout the migration program year.

Minimum Scores Invited

The latest invitation round also revealed the lowest-ranking candidates who received invitations.

For the Subclass 190 visa, invitations were issued only to candidates holding Gold Pass status in Tasmania’s Registration of Interest (ROI) system. This indicates that competition for permanent state nomination remains relatively high.

For the Subclass 491 visa, the lowest invitation went to candidates with 40 points who held an Orange Pass ranking. This suggests that Tasmania is continuing to invite candidates across multiple pass categories depending on program demand and occupation priorities.

Current Number of ROIs in the Pool

After the invitation round took place, a significant number of candidates still remained in the ROI pool waiting for invitations.

Currently, 471 Registration of Interests are in the pool for the Subclass 190 visa, while 196 ROIs remain for the Subclass 491 visa.

The higher number of candidates waiting for the Subclass 190 visa indicates that permanent state nomination remains more competitive than the regional provisional pathway.

Remaining Nomination Places

Tasmania has also provided an update on the number of nomination places still available for the current migration program year.

At present, 558 nomination places remain for the Subclass 190 visa, while 424 nomination places are still available for the Subclass 491 visa.

These remaining allocations suggest that additional invitation rounds are likely to occur throughout the year, depending on processing progress and state priorities.

Applications Currently Under Assessment

Many nomination applications have already been submitted, but are still being assessed by Migration Tasmania.

Currently, 394 Subclass 190 nomination applications are under assessment, while 214 Subclass 491 nomination applications are still waiting for a decision.

These applications will gradually move through the assessment process before the state issues further invitations.

Invitations Issued but Applications Not Yet Lodged

Some candidates who received invitations have not yet submitted their nomination applications.

According to the latest update, 68 candidates invited under the Subclass 190 visa have not yet lodged their applications, while 59 candidates invited for the Subclass 491 visa are yet to submit their nomination applications.

Once these applications are lodged and processed, they will begin to reduce the number of remaining nomination places available in the program.

What This Means for Skilled Migration Applicants

This latest Tasmania skilled migration update highlights several important trends for candidates interested in the Tasmania state nomination.

First, the ROI pool remains competitive, particularly for the Subclass 190 visa, where the number of candidates waiting is significantly higher. Second, Tasmania appears to be issuing smaller invitation rounds, which allows the state to control how quickly nomination places are used.

Finally, the pass ranking system continues to play a critical role in invitations, with Gold Pass candidates receiving priority in the most recent Subclass 190 round.

For applicants considering Tasmania, maintaining a competitive profile, accurate EOI information, and a strong ROI submission can improve the chances of receiving an invitation.
