Four Canadian provinces issue skilled migration nominations

Four Canadian provinces issued nominations to skilled migration candidates in the second half of June through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) and provincial immigration programs.

The provinces to invite skilled migration candidates were British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec, and Alberta.

The provincial governments nominated 2,020 candidates based on factors including professional experience, employment, language abilities, and education, among others.

British Columbia (BC)

British Columbia invited skilled migration candidates through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP).

The province held a joint draw on June 25th in which 35 candidates from the following five streams were considered:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Skilled Worker: Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option
  • International Graduate
  • International Graduate: Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled

The Skilled Worker, Skilled Worker: EEBC option, International Graduate and International Graduate: EEBC option streams required candidates to have a minimum score of 134 points to be nominated.

The Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream required candidates to have a score of 110 points to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian PR.

Another draw for the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams were held on the same day. In this round of the invitation draw, at least 29 candidates with professional experience within in-demand occupations in the province were issued ITAs.

Candidates in childcare and construction professions needed a minimum score of 97 points to be invited, while candidates in healthcare occupations needed a score of 106. Veterinary care professions had a minimum score requirement of 80 points.

Manitoba

Manitoba invited 413 skilled individuals through Manitoba PNP (MPNP) draws held on the 21st and 25th of June.

On the 21st, Manitoba held two MPNP draws. The first draw focused on the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, in which 52 nominations were issued to candidates with a score of at least 721 points. The same day, another draw was held that nominated 111 candidates through the International Education stream of the MPNP.

On the 25th, Manitoba invited 250 skilled candidates through the Occupation Specific Selection pathway of the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Selected candidates were required to be employed in one of the following occupations:

  • NOC 31301 – Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses
  • NOC 31302 – Nurse practitioners
  • NOC 32101 – Licensed practical nurses
  • NOC 33102 – Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates.

Candidates needed a minimum score of 516 points to be invited in this draw.

Quebec

Quebec invited 1,470 immigration candidates through its PNP on June 17th. To be invited, candidates needed to have:

  • A level 7 French proficiency; and
  • A score of at least 585 points, or
  • A valid job offer outside the territory of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

Alberta

Alberta nominated 73 candidates on June 18th through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Selected candidates needed at least 301 points to be nominated in this draw.
