What you Need to Apply
To study in New Zealand, international students must fulfill a range of academic, personal, and financial requirements. These include:
Identity
A valid passport and recent passport-size photographs are required. Additional identification documents may be requested during the application process.
Age
Applicants must be at least 18 years old for most university programs. Students under 18 must have approved guardianship and accommodation arrangements.
Character
All student visa applicants must meet good character requirements. A police clearance certificate may be required, particularly for applicants over 17 years of age.
Language
English proficiency is essential. Accepted tests include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic, and Cambridge English. Most universities require an IELTS score of 6.0 to 7.0, depending on the program.
Education Background
Applicants must present transcripts and certificates of their highest level of education. Entry requirements vary between undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate courses.
Bank Statement
Proof of financial capability is essential. Students must show evidence of funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses. The minimum requirement is generally NZD 20,000 for living costs per year, in addition to tuition fees.
