Canada has invited 4,000 candidates to apply for permanent residency in the latest Express Entry draw.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted this round of the draw on September 19, 2024, and invited only Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates to apply for Canadian immigration.
Applicants needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 509 points to be selected in this invitation round, which was the third this month.
The first invitation round was held on September 9, in which IRCC issued 911 invitations to apply (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.
The second invitation round, which took place on September 13, was a category-based draw for candidates with French language proficiency. IRCC issued 1,000 ITAs in this iteration of the periodic invitation draws.
This latest invitation round was the largest CEC-only draw since July 31, 2024.
Canada invited 5,000 CEC candidates in that round, with a CRS cutoff score of 510 points.
After the three draws, IRCC has invited 5,911 candidates to apply for Canadian immigration so far this month.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for permanent skilled migration.
Candidates can submit their profiles to the Express Entry pool for three immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Applicants are granted points based on a number of in-demand human capital factors, such as:
- Age
- Education
- Language proficiency
- Work experience
- Occupation
In addition to these factors, applicants can also obtain points for having siblings in Canada or immigrating with a spouse who has a high Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score in English and French.
The highest-scoring candidates are selected to apply for Canadian immigration in periodic invitation rounds.
