The provincial government of Ontario has invited 21 applicants under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to apply for business migration to Canada.
Candidates who had scores of between 142 and 200 on their Expressions of Interest were issued invitations to apply for Canadian business immigration with the entrepreneur stream on October 26.
This latest invitation round was Ontario’s fifth in 2020, with a total of 112 entrepreneurs being invited for Canadian immigration this year.
The Ontario entrepreneur stream is aimed at business people and entrepreneurs who want to move to Canada and start a new business or buy an existing one in Ontario.
Upon receiving an invitation to travel to Canada with an entrepreneur visa, applicants must establish their business in Ontario according to the business plan provided with their application, and meet their performance agreement.
In addition, entrepreneurs must meet certain requirements to obtain a nomination from Ontario to apply for permanent residency in Canada. These requirements include:
- Staying in Ontario for nine months out of the twelve-month period in which they establish their business in the region;
- Being actively involved in their day-to-day business operations;
- Demonstrating a language proficiency at a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 or equivalent.
Successfully meeting these requirements will allow the entrepreneurs to obtain a nomination from the provincial government of Ontario to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
